Marie Stopes Bangladesh (MSB) is leading NGO affiliated with Marie Stopes International, UK, which supports programmes in 37 countries, providing high quality and affordable, sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services to the urban, peri-urban and rural community through innovative service delivery approaches supported by appropriate BCC interventions. MSB is committed to improving the SRH status of the poor, highly at-risk and vulnerable population in Bangladesh.

In collaboration with the Research Monitoring & Evaluation (RME) team in London, MSB have a number of research activities planned. MSB invites application for a Research Specialist based in Dhaka head office. Reporting to MSB’s General Manager-Research Monitoring & Evaluation the position offers exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-organisational team, working closely with international university and NGOs, with the opportunity to collaborate on research outputs and publications.

Specific activities:

  • Successfully manage research studies ensuring that projects are completed with specified time frames and allocated budgets.
  • Management and conducting of qualitative research (IDIs); regular (weekly) briefings with research, monitoring and evaluation team in London.
  • Develop study implementation plans and allocation of roles and responsibilities, piloting of study tools, management and monitoring of field work.
  • Ensure that data collected is of high quality through ensuring comprehensive training of research field staff and designing and implementing rigorous quality assurance mechanisms.
  • Develop study budgets and quarterly budget forecasts and ensure that the study budget is utilized properly and Contribute to donor reporting.
  • Identify key stakeholders (e.g. government and NGOs) for the study and arrange meetings with experts and advisory committee for research work.
  • Work closely with Research, Monitoring and Evaluation team in London.
  • Provide support in study report writing and publications.
  • Any other tasks that may be identified by the General Manager- Research Monitoring & Evaluation.

Duration of Contract: Six to twelve months with possibility of extension.

Essential Requirements:

This post requires a person with good research skills who is flexible, shows strong initiative, and has excellent communication skill. Specific requirements are:

  • Masters degree in public health/sociology/statistics/ or other relevant Social Sciences.
  • 04 Years’ experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Excellent attention to details.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Knowledge of a statistical analysis package would be an advantage.
  • Writing skills in English and Bangla for a range of purposes and audiences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
